Just came across your page! How exciting!! My father was station master at Berkeley Station from 1948 - 1952 (approx) and we lived in the Station House. I started primary school at Berkeley in 1951. I have many happy memories of the Station and was devastated to find it had been pulled down. Coincidentally, my husband was a Gas Board meterman, in the area, from about 1978 - 1992. We took a trip down memory lane, with my mother, about 8 years' ago and the people who lived at the Station House kindly invited us to look around. Good luck with your initiative which we will be watching, with interest. ... See MoreSee Less

Talk about heroic in this weather!!!! ... See MoreSee Less

Dec 13th, wet, cold, windy. We managed though to uncover a good section of platform 1. Derek dug back from the face near the loading dock and reached the wall at the back of the right hand ramp. Possible now to see how the platform relates to the building. Four more finds c/o Laurence, one was a rail clamp and we were intrigued by the other three. Any ideas? The platform wall and edge stones have gone and having dug down, no sign of the foundations of the platform wall. Another time perhaps. Interesting to compare the photo above with what is there now.
