The Open Weekend on the 17th & 18th September was a big success.

On Saturday nearly 100 people, mainly locals, came to see what we are up to and learn more about our plans for the future. With guided tours round the shed, a model railway, railway simulation of the line, steam car and refreshments, there was certainly a lot to keep people interested for a few hours.

Sunday was a bit lower key as some of the displays weren’t available, but never the less another 50 people came to visit us. Many were impressed with the train simulation of the line showing how it used to be in it’s heyday. Developed by Tony Perks and hosted by John Bennett it certainly provided a good conversation piece.

With sales in the shop, raffle tickets and donations we also raised some much needed funds and we’re delighted that another 30 people chose to join as members, bringing the total to about 245 members to date.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who came along to help.
