Railtour down the Sharpness Branch Line

At Berkeley Station (Rich Kelsey)

On Saturday 13th January, the ‘Severn Aggregator’ rail tour, organised by Pathfinder Tours made its way down the Sharpness Branch line, passing the dig at Berkeley Station reaching the limit of the line at Oldminster Sidings, Sharpness. On the return trip the train stopped at Berkeley Station for a period, probably the first time a passenger train has stopped here since 31st Oct 1964.

During the journey Pathfinder Tours held a raffle and very kindly donated the £552 takings to the Vale of Berkeley Railway, which we really appreciate.

Passenger trains down the Sharpness branch line are very rare, usually once every couple of years, but it is hoped in a few years all this will change when VBR starts to run its own heritage service, using Steam & Diesel locomotives.
